YEAH YEAH YEAHS
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The band has
recorded three studio albums†Fever to Tell (2003), Show Your Bones (2006, second best album of the
year by NME) and It's Blitz! (2009). They first stepped into international spotlight appearing at South by Southwest (SXSW). In 2003, the band released their debut album, Fever to Tell, which received several strong critical reviews and sold more than 750,000 copies worldwide.
Alongside performing headlining tours across the world, Yeah Yeah Yeahs has supported artists such as
Björk, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Liars, and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, earning a significant buzz
for their arty and garage punk scene. They also became one of the first western rock acts to play in
China when they headlined the Modern Sky Festival in Beijing in 2007.
They are currently working on a new album, to be released in early 2013.
The group composes of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer
Brian Chase.
VAMPIRE WEEKEND
New York indie outfit Vampire Weekend was formed in 2006 under XL Recordings. The band has four
members: Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio. Their first album Vampire
Weekend was released in 2008, which produced the hit singles "Mansard Roof", "A-Punk", "Oxford
Comma" and "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa".
In 2007, Vampire Weekend's song "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" was ranked 67th on Rolling Stone's list of
the '100 Best Songs of the Year'. In November 2007, they toured the UK with The Shins. They became
successful through blog hype and internet buzz, built during the year their album was on the internet
before its official release. The internet attention led to a large pre - release following, which in fact
enabled them to go on three full tours before their debut album dropped. They were declared "The
Year's Best New Band" by Spin magazine in the March 2008 issue, and were the first band to be shot for
the cover of the magazine before releasing their debut album.
BAND OF HORSES
Originally known for a brief period as Horses, Band of Horses is an American rock band hailing from
Seattle. Since their debut in 2004, they have released four studio albums, the most successful of which is
2010's Grammy - nominated Infinite Arms for Best Alternative Album. Band of Horses' fourth studio
album, Mirage Rock, was released in September 2012. Band of Horses have performed at several music
festivals like SXSW, Summer Sonic and Glastonbury.
They have been featured in several end of year "Best Albums of 2010" lists, including Q Magazine (#21),
PR Listeners (#15), Filter Magazine (#10) and Paste Magazine (#14). The song "Laredo" was placed at
